Safety measures for Mio applications

The Mio environment has safety measures to avoid being the cause of damage, volunteers or involuntary, on data and privacy.

A .mio file cannot be vector of propagation of virus, and cannot read or write data on the computer, except on a private folder.
A .exe or .Scr application has extended rights, as well as any other application of this format. An EXE or SCR can be vector of propagation of virus. Always control using a antivirus your files EXE and SCR produced with a Mio generator before distributing them.

This document concerns Mio applications based on {ulink:mioengine}, created with a Mio generator.

MioEngine

The Mio engine is charged to extract and interpret the files from a Mio application. It is distributed at the same time as any Mio application published to the .EXE or .SCR formats.

MioEngine is not an ActiveX/Com object. A web page displayed in a browser have no access to the MioEngine libraries. Only a detection can be done from a web page in order to know if MioEngine is installed before opening a Mio file.
Before interpreting the content of any .Mio, .Exe or .Scr file, MioEngine compares the file header with a encrypted and hidden copy. If the file has been modified or is corrupted, it will not be interpreted by MioEngine.
Reduce rights to the .mio applications to keep them always safe.

Mio applications

The capabilities of a Mio application depends of its format (.Mio, .Exe or .Scr).

A Mio application distributed as a .Mio file have restricted rights:

Access to a private key in the registry and cannot read or write anywhere else.
Access to a private folder on the hard disk to store its own data, and cannot read or write anywhere else.
No capabilities of communication with any other application.
Cannot be opened if it contains a potentially dangerous file (.OCX, .DLL, .EXE, .SCR, .REG, .BAT, etc.)
As a .Mio file is not an executable but is interpreted by MioEngine, it cannot be vector of propagation of virus.
  Cannot install files or shortcuts.
